Luttrell Psalter

The Saxon House, East Firsby (above) was one of our key locations

We also filmed many of the farming scenes at Laxton (below), England’s only remaining village which still works the land communally in the medieval three-field system.

Luttrell Psalter

For a variety of reasons, the estate was not enclosed and broken into parcels of land in the 18th or early 19th century . Each farm still works strips of land distributed about the fields and the farms still cluster in the centre of the village.

For a guided tour of Laxton village (school parties welcome) contact Stuart Rose on: 01777 871702 or through his web site.

Some more of the (mostly) Lincolnshire locations we used:

Church Farm Museum Skegness, Chambers Wood, Grey Friars Lincoln, Kentwell Hall, Gainsborough Old Hall, Cotswold Farm Park, Cosmeston, Grange Farm Lincolnshire etc...
